WM hires new coach

 Larry Wright Jr.Former Rebels running back Larry Wright Jr. has returned to West Monroe HS to be the new running backs coach.


Larry joined the Jacksonville Jaguars on February 1, 2003. As assistant director, pro personnel, Wright was responsible for evaluating players on NFL rosters, street free agents, college players, as well as players in other professional football leagues. He also assisted in coordinating unrestricted free agency coverage and assisting in advanced scouting of Jaguars' opponents.


In 1993, TB #3 Larry Wright rushed 126 times for 1300 yards and 18 touchdowns. After the playoffs and the state championship, he had rolled up a total of 1756 yards and 21 TD's.
His best effort that year was against the Bastrop Rams, where he set a school record of rushing 21 times for 250 yards.
In 1993 he averaged 10.3 yards per carry.
Larry is the older brother of Offensive lineman, #68 Lance Wright, who was the anchor on the Rebel O-line on the 1998 and 1999 teams. He is the son of Larry Wright Sr., who coached basketball at Grambling University for many years.


Wright was the head coach at Ringgold (La.) High School in 2001 and '02, and previously was a graduate assistant at Grambling, a scouting intern with the Baltimore Ravens, and a volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the Grambling basketball team.


He earned a degree in sociology at Louisiana Tech, where he was a three-year letterman and team captain, and received a master's degree in Sport Administration at Grambling. He and his wife, Vincincia, have two daughters, Victoria and Lauryn.
